My Story
Frugalista
I'm a 19 year old college student in St Louis Missouri Majoring in Finance and currently earning a Dental Assisting Diploma. You probably read my fields of study and thought wow they're worlds apart and you're right - they are. When I moved to St Louis I was lucky enough to have a family who was capable of supporting me financially. But, what really is enough money to shop? My mother has always been one to redundantly talk about the importance of money. Being my teenage self I avoided all forewarning and took matters into my own hands.
Two years and 5 credit cards later I'm currently digging myself out of a financial hole I had no reason being in. The frugal Black Girl is a community I built to share my experiences and all the things that I've learned along the way. I still shop, travel and do all the things I want to. The difference is I learned to be frugal and create avenues for me to enjoy the things I want while still meeting my financial obligations. My experience could have been avoided entirely however my choices led me to a path that allows me to help young women who cannot avoid these financial mishaps, because I know that sometimes things happen.

Our
The Thorn
a.k.a my mom
Occasionally, in my blogs you may read a voice that I hope is as annoying to you as it is to me - that voice is my mom. I applaud my mom for all of the lesson she's taught me about money however I wish she did a better job and probably let someone else tell me. She should have known that for the mere fact that it was her telling me not to over spend - I WOULD OVER SPEND!
My mom possess a wealth of knowledge that I tend to downplay in most of my blogs, however I am nothing without her annoying me as I write a new blog to share with you guys. I take all of her advice strongly and even if I do not share it you guys will be sure to see the thorn pop up and share it herself.
